| you have facebook to thank for the fact that i never put anything up here. facebook, oh and the fact that i have about 200 times more school to do than i can do, a job, and more work on the house than ever.
i'd say that i'll update soon if you just really want me to lie to you. maybe. back to work....

| i know we're more than just chemicals, but the chemicals feel so good. sometimes they're the only parts that feel good. times when everything physical and real consumes me, blinds me.
eat, drink, love, laugh, smoke, do whatever you want. but when it comes down to the important things, none of that will make you feel any better. the one and only thing that can satisfy is at the same time hyper-real and illogical. if we really believed what we say we could have something so much more real, more satisfying than the things we turn to out of fear. fear that we won't be happy.
i spend so much time being too timid to give up something i have to gain something infinitely more valuable. its easy to say things. its harder to see them for what they really are, we all have a sort of universal self focusing myopia. i'm missing the nose on my own face. harder still to practice, to live satisfied. it's hard because personal satisfaction has to come from something entirely alien to ourselves, from outside.
jesus loves me. this is the only thing i truly know. everything else might be flawed and painful, but this is not. all i want is jesus love, all he wants is to love you. sometimes it feels like hell. if it looks like he's killing you, he is. but he's saving your life.

| some of you might wonder what i do at work. okay, probably none of you really bother to think about what i do at work, but here is an idea of what i have going on regardless.
yesterday i worked on this: "Table # Incremental cost, revenue and
income above variable cost for peanut in a sod rotation under irrigated
and non irrigated conditions relative to peanut in a conventional
system." as well as tried to figure out what someone at work meant when they said: "the most current N rates
for Mz in the SE are old and some developed as way as 30 years ago
and based on old varieties."
it all started out pretty simply, graphing N0-3 and NH+4 from the water samples i took.

then things got a little worse. more colors, more columns, more chemistry that i don't really understand.

and then. then we lost the color. and we tripled the number of graphs. these are graphs for plant height by nitrogen rate, rotation, and irrigation levels over the last four years. more fun than a barrel of monkeys.

lately i've been editing refrences on academic papers. i don't know why this one has all the color highlighting, personally i think that type of thing is for amateurs. hardcore black and white all the way. p.s. - not! the colorful ones at least marginally keep me interested, the black and white ones keep me asleep.

so. this actually makes what i do look kind of interesting. if you just imagine staring at one of these for about four hours in a cold lab with florescent lights that flicker on and off, and having no idea what you are supposed to do with any of it. most of the time i don't even have the graphs, just 17 pages of numbers.
i spend most of my time waiting for someone to find the data i am supposed to put in, graph, reference, etc. luckily the best radio show ever- the hearty white miracle nutrition hour- is now available online and on my ipod.

| so here is a little valentines day mix-tape for you. i'm not claiming that these are the pan-ultimate loves songs by any means, just my favorites. not in any real order (except the frst three)
1. to make you feel my love - bob dylan probably my favorite song ever (garth brooks cover is going to be a lot easier to listen to than bob's version).
1. hoppipolla - sigur ros' tied for the #1 spot. even though this song is in icelandic and the lyrics don't really mean much of anything, one of the best love songs i have ever heard.
2. i'll be - edwin mccain since i was 14.... one of the reasons i learned to play the guitar .
3. mistake of my life - caedmon's call (derek webb)
4. such great heights - iron and wine death cab for cutie makes this song sound cheap and stupid. sam beam makes it sound inspired.
5. just to see you smile - tim mcgraw
6. what you want – caedmon's call (derek webb)
7. too marvelous for words – frank sinatra
8. she's so high - tal bachman ahhh. pre-high-school crushes, what can you do?
9. do you remember - jack johnson
10. before my time - johnny cash
11. josh bales - dark haired darling at first i thought this song was campy, but i've played it more than anything else on this list
12. come what may – moulin rogue
13. the luckiest - ben folds of course. it would have been innapropriate to not have this on here
14. sometimes you can't make it on your own - u2
15. all my life - rosie thomas 16. october - rosie thomas 17. have you seen my love - rosie thomas kind of a trend here... all three songs are absolutely incredible
18. springtime indiana - sandra mccracken
19. fields of gold – sting
20. every breath you take – sting (and the police!)
21. everything i do i do it for you - bryan adams i like this one, except now it makes me think of gob from arrested development which is a little unsettling
22. unchained melody - the righteous brothers most often heard being mauled on american idol
23. crazy for this girl - evan and jaron who didn't love this song in the 90's?
24. all my life - kci and jojo
25. think of me - andrew llyod weber/phantom of the opera
